Ames boys basketball
The defending Class 4A state champions successfully opened their season with a 54-30 win over Fort Dodge, with Frank Keller recording a double-double.
Dallas Center-Grimes boys basketball
Last season’s 3A state champs are off to a 2-0 start with wins over ADM (48-46) and Grinnell (71-39).
North Linn boys basketball
The Lynx, who won the 1A state championship last season, have put up 85 and 103 points in their first two games of the 2022-23 campaign.
Waukee boys basketball
Expected to be one of the top teams in the state, the Warriors have reeled off three straight victories to start the new season, beating Ankeny, Southeast Polk and Linn-Mar.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy boys basketball
Kennedy, featuring one of the top backcourts in the state, have looked impressive early on with easy wins over Marion and Des Moines Hoover.
Waukee Northwest boys basketball
Future Iowa Hawkeye Pryce Sandfort totaled 33 points and 19 rebounds for the Wolves in a 61-45 victory over West Des Moines Valley.
W.D.M. Dowling girls basketball
The Maroons handed Ankeny Centennial its first loss of the season, snapping a two-game losing skid.
Ballard girls basketball
Ballard has used a balanced attack to win its first three games of the season, including a 67-38 victory over ADM, in its latest outing.
West Marshall girls basketball
Led by high-scoring Kay Reyerson, the Trojans have won their first four games. Reyerson had 43 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists in a 77-30 win over Saydel on Friday.
Sibley-Ocheyedan girls basketball
Returning all-stater Madison Brouwer has keyed a 3-0 start for the Generals, their most latest victory coming on Friday over George-Little Rock.
Winfield-Mt Union girls basketball
A couple of wins last week improved the Wolves’ record to 5-0 and kept them in the Class 1A state rankings.
Don Bosco boys wrestling
The defending Class 1A state champs crowed four individual champions and captured its third straight Keith Young Invitational title in Cedar Falls.
Iowa City High boys wrestling
The Little Hawks are stacked at nearly every weight class, including 182 pounds where Gabe Arnold, a transfer from Wyoming Seminary, went 5-0 and knocked off two wrestlers ranked among the top 10 in the country in the Dan Gable Donnybrook in Coralville.
Decorah girls wrestling
Although no team scoring was kept during the Dan Gable Donnybrook, the Vikings recorded seven top-five finishes.
Waverly-Shell Rock girls wrestling
The Go-Hawks have won each of the four team titles at the girls state championships hosted by the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Associations and had six top-five finishes in the Gable Donnybrook.
