Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the rest of the world have read a series of detailed reports about their decision to step back from the royal family in 2020.
In a new interview scheduled to air on CBS’s 60 Minutes, the Duke of Sussex says he knows his family has published many such stories in the press.
As the two planned to step back from their day-to-day responsibilities as royals, Prince Harry discussed the details and reasons for the move with other members of the royal family.
“And every time I tried to do it privately, there were briefings and leaks and planting stories for me and my wife . . It’s just a motto.”
Prince Harry has appeared in an interview to discuss his upcoming memoir, Spare. He and Markle also recently starred in his Netflix documentary, his series “Harry & Meghan,” which premiered in December.
In “Harry and Meghan,” Charles III’s second son mentions a possible move to Canada in an email exchanged with his father in early 2020. In the exchange, the Duke also noted that he and Markle were willing to give up their royal titles to make such a move. , he said in the docuseries.
Such leaks were common, he said, when he tried to negotiate an exit from typical royal life for himself, Markle, and their son, Archie. lives in California where she gave birth to her daughter Lilibet in June 2021.
“They give information and have conversations with correspondents, who are literally spooned with information and write stories,” he said in the 60-minute clip. At the bottom they will say they have reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment, but the whole story is Buckingham Palace commenting.”
