SPORTY electric Volvo-offshoot Polestar has delivered on its promise and built a performance-orientated version of its electric saloon 2.
The (deep breath) Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 is the result of interest shown around a specially modified 2 shown off at a past Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO said: “We had a great reaction to the specially modified Polestar 2 we showed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2021 and the response made it clear – we should create a version like that for production.”
The BST Edition 2 gets changes to its looks, performance and suspension in order to look and go faster.
The standard Polestar 2’s two electric motors and 78 kWh battery have been enhanced for a maximum power output of 476 hp along with more responsiveness at the throttle. 0-62mph now happens in 4.4 seconds.
That’s the speed sorted, but what about the cornering?
Well, Polestar has lowered the ride height by 25 mm, added specially developed adjustable dampers with auxiliary adjustment chambers mounted under the bonnet, a front strut bar, 20% stiffer springs and unique new black 21-inch alloy wheels.
The BST’s tyres are Pirelli P Zeros, developed specifically for this car. The 4-piston Brembo brakes stay the same.
As for the way it looks, the BST is available in either Thunder or Snow exterior colours with a Charcoal WeaveTech interior.
A matte black body stripe is available as an option, as well as a full-body Battleship Gray satin wrap. The door mirrors are finished in glossy black.
Polestar’s signature ‘Swedish gold’ details remain, including on the brake callipers, damper elements, valve caps and seatbelts.
But if all this sounds like a bit of you, you need to be quick.
As its name suggests, just 270 of these special editions Polestar 2s will be made for Europe, China and North America.
Of those, just 40 will be making their way to the UK and Ireland.
