Republican Senator Marco Rubio has called on the White House to investigate reports that Chinese companies are supplying Iran with technology that it can use against protesters.
reported by NBC News Tiandy, which provides facial recognition technology to Chinese authorities, also provides surveillance technology to the Iranian government.
Sen, Rubio sent a letter to the Biden administration on Nov. 30 in a letter obtained by NBC that said the company’s dealings with Iran “would result in ‘Tiandi’s products being used against peaceful Iranian protesters. It raises serious questions as to whether

The company’s website shows it has sold equipment to Iran’s infamous Revolutionary Guard and other security services, and Intel Corp. is a partner in providing processors for some of the Chinese company’s video recording equipment. mentions Tiandy.
Senator Rubio asked the Departments of State, Treasury and Commerce to see if Tiandi violated U.S. laws prohibiting him from supporting organizations that violate human rights.
Rubio said, “We request that Tiandi engage in conduct that may meet the criteria set by Congress for designation by the authorities and report to Congress.”
Several Chinese surveillance firms are under US sanctions, but Tiandy is not one of them. Experts say the company is one of the most dangerous among similar Chinese companies.
