ROCKFORD, IL (WIFR) – A local Amazon Group partnered with the Rockford Veterans Affairs nonprofit to provide free lunches to veterans of all ages on Friday before the federal holiday.
A dozen veterans came to the Drop-In Center in Rockford. This is a one-stop-shop for all the services you need, including complimentary meals cooked in Casey’s pub in Love’s Park. Amazon works with nonprofits to provide free meals and donate needed items to veterans.
An Amazon representative said it was important to provide free meals so the center could use operating costs to provide more resources to veterans.
βSome veterans gave more than others, but we are all in some way. It helps you get through the day and try to be more normal.
According to the drop-in center’s Facebook page, they’re looking for hand and bath towels, washcloths, regular-sized bottles of Italian dressing, packaged cookies/crackers, and power bars.
