Whatever the reason, Meghan Markle’s appearance on the royal scene has caused problems for the family, which is now split across the ocean.
Marie Claire Royal biographer Andrew Morton said as he published his new book. Queen: her life (opens in new tab)and the author shared an insight into what was going on behind the scenes when Markle first married Prince Harry. She did everything she could to make her feel that she was there.
“I think the Queen did her best to welcome her into the family, I mean, obviously,” he says. Marie Claire.
“She took her on official business, especially to Merseyside. [Cohen]went to her office to teach her about the wonders of the Commonwealth and the Monarchy.
“And I think she really hugged her and tried to let her into the enclosure in a very friendly and open manner.
“Sadly, Harry was discussing an interview with Oprah at a hotel in London in December 2018, but he was still looking for a way out.
“Yes, within six months … we got married in May 2018. Yes, in December or November.”
Asked if the royal family knew of the issues that were coming after the wedding, Morton replied, “No, I don’t think I did.”
“I mean, they certainly knew that Harry wasn’t happy with the royal family.
“But on the flip side, he had a touch of Diana. He was and was a very charismatic person. And for that matter, so was Meghan, but obviously both of them were out of people’s minds.” It has been the butt of a great deal of criticism of
