Prince Harry was told to give 28 days’ notice about his plans to travel to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex has been told that there will be time to process the security request and it will be a matter for the Home Office to consider whether the requested security arrangements are necessary.
according to TelegraphHarry pushed back on the decision and asked the Home Office commission responsible for royal security to provide examples of persons with the same threat assessment as him who were not subject to security after stepping back from public duty.
Independent Representatives from the Duke of Sussex and the Home Office have been reached for comment.
Details of Harry’s security arrangements were made available as part of his attempt by the paper’s publisher to mail on sunday An article about his request for police protection slandered him when he and his family visited the UK.
The Prince is suing Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) over this article, which was published in February 2022 under the headline: The story broke – his PR machine tried to put a positive twist on the controversy.
The Court heard in an April 2020 email to the Queen’s private secretary, Sir Edward Young, that Harry “clarified that he could not afford to have private security until his income came”. I’m here.
Harry’s lead attorney asked Judge Matthew Nickin to either vacate the publisher’s defense or grant summary judgment in favor of the prince without going to trial.
ANL disputes this claim, claiming that the article expressed an “honest opinion” and did not cause “significant damage” to his reputation.
The Duke’s challenge to the Home Office came after he was told he would no longer be given “the same degree” of personal protection security during his visit.
Harry’s legal team argued that the security arrangement was void due to “procedural injustice” because he was not given an opportunity to make a “pre-informed statement.”
The court was told in a public statement that Harry and his family were “unable to return home” due to a lack of necessary police protection in the UK.
The statement continued: The offer was rejected. He remains willing to cover the cost of security so as not to burden the UK taxpayer. ”
