Prince Charles “deeply regrets” letting his sons, Princes William and Harry, walk behind the coffin at his mother, Princess Diana’s funeral.
This claim was made by author Christopher Andersen, who wrote a new book about the monarch, The King: The Life of Charles III. Andersen, who previously wrote a book about the British royal family, told many sources about the 73-year-old monarch.

“[He said] It reminds me of those days when he had to walk behind the coffin, and they were more or less bullied into doing it by the palace – the man in gray who actually runs the palace. by the people Diana used to complain about. Andersen explained to the outlet.
“[Charles, Earl Spencer], Diana’s brother … also says he feels cheated and regrets it. He said it was like walking through a tunnel of grief. ”
William was 15 and Harry was 12 when their mother died in 1997 from injuries sustained in a car accident in Paris. she was 36 years old. At the time, her car was being chased by paparazzi.
“I think both William and Harry thought, ‘Who’s a stranger who hasn’t met her?'” Andersen said. “So they were upset about what happened, and I think Charles understands that there is some responsibility for what they have suffered.” [that].”

In 2017, Harry explained to Newsweek how difficult it was to attend a funeral procession.
“My mother had just died and I had to walk behind her coffin all the way. Thousands of people were watching me and millions more on TV. “I don’t think you should ask a child to do that under any circumstances. I don’t think that would happen today.”
On October 27th, Penguin Random House announced that Harry’s memoir titled “Spare” will be released on January 10th.

The Duke of Sussex and wife Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties and moved to the United States in 2020. Harry helped pay for his own guarantee with the money his mother left behind. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have launched numerous initiatives, including a Netflix production deal and his non-profit Archewell Foundation.
