In a phone call with Bulgaria’s Nikolai Milov on Friday, Hossein Amiravdrakhian dismissed Western allegations that Tehran was providing drones to Moscow for use in the Ukraine war.
“According to Security Council Resolution 2231, we are not prohibited from importing or exporting weapons, but we have never provided weapons to Russia for use in the war in Ukraine,” he stressed.
He said Iran opposes the continuation of the war in Ukraine, is working for a ceasefire between the warring sides, and opposes NATO expansion in the region.
Iran has repeatedly rejected in the strongest terms Western claims that it delivered weapons and drones to Russia for use against Ukraine. said it was seeking to resolve the dispute through dialogue and diplomacy, Press TV reported.
Anti-Iran allegations first surfaced in July, when US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the Islamic Republic was preparing to provide Russia with “up to hundreds of drones. Washington claimed to have received “intelligence” indicating that A rapid timeline for use in the war in Ukraine”.
Iran and Russia have in the past vehemently denied unsubstantiated claims that Tehran provided drones to Moscow.
