If Mike Pompeo chooses not to run for president in 2024, it won’t be out of personal loyalty to Donald Trump.
Trump has poached a little-known congressman from Wichita, Kansas, to serve in his administration, first as director of the Central Intelligence Agency and then as secretary of state. The former president entrusted Pompeo with some of his most delicate foreign policy efforts, including negotiating detente with the North Korean emir. If he runs for , he will be a formidable candidate for the White House.
However, in a wide-ranging interview discussing his new book, Never Give Up: Fight for the America You LovePompeo said the role Trump played in rising to prominence wouldn’t deter him from running for president against his old boss.
“The Good Lord has given us the tools and skills that are responsible for making us,” Pompeo said dispatch“It is in no way disingenuous to present your allegations or your allegations to Americans on behalf of anyone who worked on my team or staff, or to whom I have been promoted or given a job.” He’s also the one who gave us the opportunity: all of us in the race will be in the competition and the Americans will work it out.”
