According to Matt Hardy, Donald Trump couldn’t quite believe some of the things he witnessed at WrestleMania 23.
At the 2007 Showcase Of The Immortals, Mr. Kennedy won a Money in the Bank ladder match that included Matt Hardy, CM Punk, Randy Orton, King Booker, Jeff Hardy and Edge. One moment in this match, the future US president was shocked.
In a recent edition of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the multi-time tag team champion revealed Donald Trump’s reaction when the wrestlers came backstage after the match.
I remember him saying “Oh my God” when we came back after the Money in the Bank game. How can I walk after jumping off that ladder? Already. ‘I remember your comment about it. He was so shocked that we were jumping off ladders, landing on each other and bumping into each other.
WrestleMania 23 also featured a billionaire fight, with Umaga representing Mr. McMahon against Bobby Lashley, who was competing on behalf of Donald Trump. McMahon had to shave his head because Almighty won the contest.
Matt Hardy spoke about the match and how the former WWE Chairman was 100% committed to the storyline.
So Vince was fully committed. He’s right, shaves all rings. I mean, Vince always said that, and I heard that expression about Vince all the time. I think he really tried to make that example.
You know, this deal with Donald Trump. For example, if you shave my head, you’re going to shave it completely, and we’re totally bald, I’m totally committed, right? He was as keen to set his example as he was to do things that might have embarrassed him or had to step out of his comfort zone.
Matt Hardy also recently spoke about the poor response to Jeff Hardy’s Ring of Honor debut, which his brother subsequently called Ring of Horror.
