Conway recalled asking Melania Trump to “talk” to her husband about the Capitol riots.
Former President Donald Trump fears one person, his wife, Melania.
This is according to the testimony of former White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway to a House panel investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
Conway, the pollster who helped Trump win the election in 2016, said he didn’t speak to Trump during the riots at the Capitol, but tried to reach out to his wife.
“Indeed, I texted Melania Trump that day,” Conway told panel investigators.
“I texted her. ‘He has reservations — he listens to many of us, but he’s afraid of one person, Melania Trump.’
Conway said she did not receive an immediate response because the first lady did not have a phone.
“She had no idea what was going on,” Conway said. I’m angry that no one rushed there because of it.”
Conway said he received a response to her text when the first lady finished “cataloging things” and “saw what was going on.” Conway didn’t specify how long it took to get her response.
CNN reported in January 2021 that Melania Trump was photographing rugs and other items in the East Wing when a mob broke into the Capitol. The former First Lady backed up the story in his interview with Fox News Digital published last July.
“On Jan. 6, 2021, I was fulfilling one of my duties as First Lady of the United States, so I didn’t know what was going on in the U.S. Capitol at the same time,” she told Fox News Digital. told to
She added that it was her “duty” to take archival photographs of the White House rooms.
“A few months ago, I assembled a talented team of photographers, archivists and designers to work with me at the White House to ensure flawless execution,” she told Fox News Digital. “If necessary, we plan to complete the work on behalf of the country on January 6, 2021.”
In June, former Trump aide Stephanie Grisham shared a text that appeared to show Melania Trump’s refusal to condemn the violence during the Capitol riots.
“Would you like to tweet that peaceful protest is the right of every American, but there is no place for lawlessness and violence?” said one text Grisham shared. It was part of a screenshot of the exchange.
“No,” the man replied.
Grisham told the Washington Examiner that “MT” was Melania Trump.
“I resigned immediately after her reaction,” Grisham told the outlet. Grisham, who resigned on January 6, 2021, was the first senior Trump official to resign after the Capitol riots.
Conway and representatives for Donald and Melania Trump did not immediately respond to an insider’s request for comment.
