Former President Donald Trump once revealed that Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander played golf with him. The Astros visited the White House in his 2018 to celebrate his 2017 World Series title. Trump called Verlander a friend and said:
“I know Justin. Justin is a friend of mine. Justin and I play golf. I’m a pretty long hitter. This guy is a monster. But believe me, he’s a +2 or a +3.But we love to play and it’s been really great.What he wants to do is get back to pitching. I think he’s going to have a great year.
Trump congratulated the Astros and also revealed that he had been watching the New York Yankees’ series closely.The Yankees lost 4-3 to the Astros in the ALCS.
“The 2017 World Series champions, the Houston Astros, welcome to the White House,” Trump said in his opening remarks. βAnd because we saw our Yankees and the Yankees were great and tough.
Verlander is an MLB star and currently faces the Philadelphia Phillies in this year’s World Series.

Before Game 3 of the 2012 American League Championship Series, Trump tweeted about Verlander:

His hometown team was two games behind the Detroit Tigers.

Throughout his career, Verlander has shown many weaknesses. Before the 2012 Yankees game, he had a career playoff ERA of 4.19 in support of Trump’s statements.
With the Detroit Tigers, Verlander made his major league debut in 2005. He remained in the group before the 2017 trade deadline. After that, he moved to the Houston Astros. He won five straight games before the postseason. When the Astros won his 2017 Worlds his series, Verlander received his ALCS MVP honors and Babe part of his Ruth award.
Justin Verlander became the 18th pitcher in MLB history to record 3,000 strikeouts in 2019.
