Iran’s intelligence ministry said it had identified and arrested seven people as part of an investigation into an attack on a Shia temple in the southern city of Shiraz last Wednesday.
At least 15 people were killed and dozens injured in what authorities called a “Takfiris terrorist attack”. Iranian state media said two of his men involved in the incident were arrested shortly after the attack and a search was underway to arrest a third.
A few hours after the attack, Reuters quoted a statement from the ISIS telegram channel It said the group had claimed responsibility for the attack.
The group also issued a statement through its affiliated news agency Amaq. It said one of its members “targeted an infidel group that rejects Shia within the shrine.”

Information Minister Ismail Khatib initially said on Monday that a “second agent” behind the attack had been arrested. An hour later, the Ministry of Information announced that six of the armed strike team’s “supporting agents” had also been identified and detained.
Details about the identities of the seven have not yet been released, but the Ministry of Information has “promised” to provide additional reports soon.
The governor of Fars said on Sunday that the injured attacker died of his injuries at Shiraz hospital.
