The Iranian Arab rebel leader who was assassinated in the Netherlands in 2017 warned Dutch police that his life was in danger at least seven times before his murder, Dutch newspaper says. Volkskrant reported on Tuesday.
Ahmad Mora Nissi, leader of the Arab Struggle for the Liberation of Ahwaz (ASMLA), was shot dead in The Hague in 2017.
According to a 2017 police report reviewed by Volkskrant, Nissi repeatedly called police about threats against him, the daily said.

In 2019, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Iran was responsible for Nissi’s murder, similar to the killing of another dissident in the Netherlands in 2015.
Tehran denied the allegations.
The ASMLA, considered a terrorist organization by Iran, is seeking a separate province for the indigenous Ahwazi Arabs within Iran’s oil-rich southwestern province of Khuzestan, whose capital is Ahwaz.
Afwazi Arabs, Iran’s ethnic minority, say they have been stripped of a decent standard of living and civil rights and face discrimination because of their Arab identity and heritage.
