In a phone call with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Amiravdrahian made the remarks and suggested convening a UNHRC meeting to review the actions of countries that support terrorism and encourage violence.
The top diplomat said he violated the UN charter by exploiting the Iranian people’s demands for peace, inciting violence, and teaching them how to make Molotov cocktails on social media, threatening some states. These actions resulted in deaths of police officers, increased unrest, and laid the groundwork for Daesh’s terrorist attacks in the city of Shiraz.
Condemning the use of double standards by some Western governments and their efforts to convene a UNHRC conference on Iran, he argued that the conference should be held with terrorism and violence rather than with the Islamic Republic, which truly endorses terrorism and violence. It should be held in a government that supports violence, he said. exercised human rights and restraint during the recent unrest.
The foreign ministry further warned that UNHRC’s political actions could undermine Iran’s partnership with the West.
In addition, discussions took place between the two parties on regional and global events, such as events in Yemen and Ukraine, as well as efforts to ease sanctions against Iran.
FM also emphasized the good cooperation between the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency (AEOI) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In connection with the conflict in Yemen, he noted Iran’s contribution to extending the ceasefire in the country. He also noted that Yemeni leaders and civilians should be involved in any decisions regarding the ceasefire and lifting of the siege.
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has vehemently refuted claims that it had supplied drones to Russia for use in the conflict in Ukraine.
Any political intervention by the UNHRC in the country’s internal affairs was denied by the UN Secretary-General.
Mr. Guterres highly appreciated Iran’s role in fighting terrorism and supporting a ceasefire in Yemen, and called for continued cooperation between Tehran and the United Nations envoy on Yemen.
He expressed hope that the recent meeting of the ambassadors of the coastal states of the Persian Gulf and Iran with the UN Secretary-General on the new structure of regional cooperation will help strengthen stability and peace in the region.
He also noted that negotiations to remove sanctions against Iran can protect the interests of all sides, and said IAEA-AEOI cooperation was a positive step by Tehran.
