Tehran-Oman’s Deputy Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Saleh Bin Saeed Masan announced that Iran and Oman are finalizing a mechanism to facilitate financial exchanges between the two countries.
Saleh bin Saeed Masan made the announcement at a meeting with Golam Hossein Shafaye, head of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining and Agriculture (ICCIMA), ICCIMA Portal reported.
However, Oman’s deputy minister said the two countries still face trade exchange challenges, adding that the two countries’ central banks have offered different solutions to these challenges.
The Omani minister referred to a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries on trade cooperation and customs facilities and said both Iranian and Omani technical teams were working towards the entry into force of the agreement.
Elsewhere at the conference, Shafeie referred to the enormous potential for expanding trade between Iran and Oman, stating: for trade cooperation
“Through Oman, we can export to other countries, especially to African countries, which is in line with our mutual interests,” he said, referring to Oman’s geographical advantages and the economic benefits of trade between the two countries. said Shafaye.
He also said the two countries could also work on joint investment and cooperation in health tourism.
The Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce is working with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) to take appropriate steps to reopen the bank accounts of Iranian traders intending to invest in Oman, it said. Shafeie said, adding that trade cooperation could be significantly improved. between two neighboring countries.
He said the central banks of Iran and Oman had held talks to issue credit cards for Iranian traders and businessmen.
Officials expressed hope that the Omani government and the country’s chamber of commerce would help finalize these negotiations.
Also at the conference, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Chairman Ridha bin Juma Al Saleh said the private sector must play a role in encouraging investors to take advantage of Oman’s open door policy.
Noting that both countries have found solutions to many of the obstacles to bilateral trade, he noted, for example, opening accounts for Iranian business persons in Oman.
Alireza Payman Pak, head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), said that trade between Iran and Oman in the first seven months of this year (March 21 to October 22) was down from the same period last year. He said it increased by 70%.
Peyman-Pak made the remarks at a meeting with Saleh bin Said Masan, adding that promoting trade with Oman is one of the Iranian government’s business priorities.

The head of the TPO also mentioned the presence of Iranian companies at the Omani exhibition and requested the presence of Omani companies and businessmen at the Iranian exhibition.

Also in a meeting with Reza Fatemi Amin, Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade of Iran, Saleh bin Saeed Masan called on Iran to set up factories and production lines in his country.
At the meeting, an Omani official, referring to visits to Iranian industrial parks and factories in Tehran and Isfahan, said: Invest in home appliance factory, Oman. “
He also announced that he was ready to provide customs and tax facilities, supply land for the presence of factories in Iran, and set up production lines in the country.
Noting that Iran and Iranian companies and factories are ready to invest in Oman, Fatemi Amin added: We will build a production line with the joint investment of Omani and Iranian businessmen.”
