In a phone call on Thursday, Foreign Minister Amir Abdulahian and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdurrahman al-Thani discussed the latest developments in Tehran-Doha relations. That Qatar successfully hosted his 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In a greeting from Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to the Emir of Qatar, Amira Rabdrahian congratulated the Arab governments and people on their successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also thanked Qatar for its support regarding the presence of fans and sports enthusiasts of the Iranian national team (Team Meri) at the match.
Qatar’s foreign minister greeted Iranian officials from his country’s emir.
He also welcomed the Iranian football team’s performance on the pitch and thanked Iran for its active support and cooperation with Doha during the FIFA World Cup match, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry website.
Iran’s FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign came to an end on Tuesday with Carlos Queiroz’s team losing 1-0 to the United States at Al Thumama Stadium.
Iran lost 6-2 to England in their opening match and 2-0 to Wales in their second game.
