Nashua, N.H. — A woman from Fitchburg, Massachusetts, was hired as an Amazon Flex driver and accused of stealing a large number of Amazon packages, police said.
According to a Nashua Police Department press release, 23-year-old Rebecca Daigle was able to drive with a package from Amazon’s delivery facility in Nashua on August 29 and deliver it to various destinations in Massachusetts. It is said that there was not.
Amazon’s website states that Amazon Flex drivers will use their own vehicles to deliver the company’s packages, allowing for more flexible work schedules.
Police said on September 30, a member of the agency’s Unified Field Operations Department was contacted by an Amazon shipping facility about the alleged theft.
Police on Wednesday said detectives had arrested Daigle and charged her with unauthorized theft, a Class B felony. The crime carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison for her, including possible fines.
Daigle was subsequently released on her own accord. She is scheduled to undergo her arraignment on January 12th.
