If Donald Trump’s attempt to return to the White House fails, Republicans are reportedly considering alternative options that would give him a prestigious position within the government as Speaker of the House.
Rep. Jamie Ruskin of Maryland said on Sunday’s “Face the Nation” that the Republican caucus “repeatedly” mentioned a possible former U.S. president, with Matt Gates floating around earlier this year. It’s an idea.
When told that at least 155 Republicans who won the House election were denying the election, Ruskin told CBS host Margaret Brennan: Once again, Kevin McCarthy and other leaders within the Republican Party have to make a decision as to whether they want to remove Donald Trump and his toxic influence on the Republican Party. “

Rep. McCarthy, who is currently the minority leader of the House, is campaigning hard for the presidency should Republicans win control of the House. And Mr Brennan noted that Mr McCarthy would need a thumbs up from all the election naysayers before he took the position.
Ruskin saw it as a potential problem, as McCarthy could compete with Donald Trump for the job.
“One potential candidate whose name has surfaced is Donald Trump himself, because the speaker of the House doesn’t have to be a congressman,” Ruskin explained. We’re talking about putting it there.”
Brennan didn’t believe it was a “realistic option” and seemed skeptical, but Ruskin insisted it was not only possible, but was being seriously considered.
“They talk about it repeatedly,” Ruskin said. “If Trump decides he wants to, it will cause serious problems for their party as they refuse to do the right thing.”

Trump has dismissed the idea that if Republicans win control of the House in the midterm elections, he will become chairman in March when Gates mentioned the possibility.
“No, I think so. not what i want President Trump said in an interview with John Solomon and Amanda Head: “No, that’s not what I want to do. I want to see what’s going on. And we’re going to do something else. No, that’s what I’m interested in.” not.”
Trump is scheduled to make a “special announcement” in Mar-a-Lago on November 15, and most people think he’s wearing a hat for the 2024 presidential election.
By the way, the Constitution does not require the Speaker to be a member of the House of Representatives, but all past Speakers have. Also worth noting is that the Speaker of the House is second in line to the presidency after the vice president. In other words, if the President and Vice President are unable to perform their duties (for whatever reason), the Speaker of the House becomes the President of the United States.
