When former President Donald Trump announced Tuesday night that he would once again run for the nation’s top office, he made his final bid for the 2020 presidential election along the southern border of Texas. erroneously claimed that all of the communities that supported him supported him.
Trump added that Gov. Greg Abbott called him to congratulate him on his success at the Texas-Mexico border.
Neither in 2020 nor in 2016 did Trump win every southern Texas county. A majority of residents in seven of her 14 counties on the southern border of Texas voted for President Joe Biden in 2020. In 2016, nine of those 14 counties voted for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Trump said in a call with the governor of Texas that Abbott told him: Conquered every area along the border — the longest since Reconstruction. “
Abbott’s office did not immediately return a request for comment on the alleged phone calls between him and Trump or his endorsement of the former president.
Trump said he won the most votes in the 2020 election, among other false claims. Biden sparked deadly riots in the Capitol and he got more than 7 million more votes than Trump who tried to overturn the 2020 election results. He is currently the subject of several investigations.
