He never got the wall – and now it’s been said that Donald Trump may have to tear down the fence near his luxury resort in Cochlear.
The county council there issued a warning to the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Doonbeg, saying it was the unauthorized construction of a fence near the resort.

In correspondence with the former U.S. president’s hotel group, they said the new fence at Domore Beach does not have planning permits.
An evaluation conducted by the Council’s Assistant Executive Planners in early September stated:
“Their function appears to be related to coastal/dune protection operations.
“The fence in the town of Callowmore appears to be only partially completed.”


Planners concluded that fencing constitutes both “construction and development” and is not exempt under the Planning Act.
He recommended issuing a warning letter to TIGL Enterprises Limited, the owner and operator of Trump Hotels.
The letter was sent to the company on September 13, stating that it was the council’s opinion that unauthorized development “did, was made, or may be being made.” was
The letter warned that mandatory notice would follow if unauthorized development took place.

One member of the public who lodged a complaint with the council said workers told him the fence was to protect the dunes from pedestrians and children playing.
In an email, the complainant wrote:
They said this was the exact reason why a controversial site wall proposal by An Bord Pleanála was rejected in 2020.


The email continues:
“They are destroying the dunes, not protecting them.”
