Brilliant Karim Benzema’s hat-trick leaves Blues’ Champions League title defence in tatters

KARIMA BENZEME’s sensational hat-trick led to the advantage of Real Madrid in their quarterfinal fight of the Champions League against Chelsea.

The striker put Real Madrid in the lead in the 21st minute, sensationally directing a cross from Vinicius Jr. to the left wing above Edouard Mendy.

The Frenchman then repeated the trick only a few minutes later, nodding to the center of Luka Modrić next to the helpless goalkeeper.

Chelsea came together before half-time, and last season’s last hero Kai Havertz headed them back into the equalizer after Jorginho’s deep cross shot.

Mendy had a moment to forget right after half-time, hopelessly missing a pass in the direction of Antonio Rudiger.

Benzema took advantage of the German’s weak attempt in the challenge, stealing the ball and throwing the ball into the unguarded net for 3-1.
