Biggest Loser: Donald Trump
Trump may have cost the Senate to the Republican Party. I can’t wait to see the final result, but as of 1:16 am Midnight, Republicans have overwhelmed Wisconsin, Nevada and must have a runoff vote in Georgia.
This could have easily been a big blow to the Republican Party, but it wasn’t.
Herschel Walker lived in Texas before being recruited by Trump to run for Senator in Georgia using an Atlanta residence owned by his wife.
In Arizona, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, Trump-backed “Stop Stealing” candidates have gone up in flames.
In some states, abortion may have been the deciding factor in defeating the Republican gubernatorial race. Democrats won two governor seats.
Brian Kemp will become governor of Georgia, but Trump has actively campaigned against Kemp in the Republican primary.
Kemp’s crime was resisting Trump’s pressure to overturn the Georgia election.
Biggest Winner: Ron DeSantis
Ron DeSantis shows how to deal with Trump. ignore him
At 99% of the vote, DeSantis has a commanding 39.9% win over Charlie Christ at 59.4%. DeSantis significantly surpassed Trump’s 2020 results in every county.
Crucially, DeSantis’ gerrymandering flipped at least three seats held by Democrats.

Republican Ron Johnson, expected to be the Wisconsin supporter, has a narrow lead. It’s too early for him to call Nevada, but if the GOP loses, apply that to Trump.
Former Attorney General Adam Laxalt, who led former President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to overturn the Nevada presidential election results in 2020.
Georgia is probably heading to the runoff vote. If Walker wins, it’s Trump’s fault, not Trump’s.
We don’t know how these Senate elections will turn out, but it’s still possible for Republicans to take control of the House, but there was no red wave.
Trump boasts of hard-core blocking of stealing candidates from winning House seats, but those have always been safe Republican seats, anyway.
key evening takeaway
Quality matters. Independents swung to stop stealing. Senate Minority Leaders Mitch McConnell and Ron DeSantis got this right. Trump got it wrong.
Tonight was a disaster for a prominent Trump-supporting candidate. There is no other reasonable conclusion.
If you wanted a split traffic jam. Congratulations, as long as the House predictions hold, you’ve got it.
