Social media star Benito Skinner is currently producing a comedy series on Amazon titled Overcompensating.
Skinner will create the series and serve as executive producer. Singer-songwriter Charli XCX provides music and executive production, while Jonah Her Hill Strong Her Baby Productions is also executive producing. A24 will be the studio.
According to the official logline, the series will be about “Benny, an Idaho football player who finds himself struggling to accept his sexuality in college and trying to convince himself of something he isn’t, Biting, personal, and hilariously hilarious, this ensemble comedy explores what we all go through in making sense of ourselves: the variety we try in the process. We explore our individuality and the journey of finding people who accept us for who we are.”
Skinner is actually from Idaho, played football in high school, and came out as gay while in college. He debuted the comedy stage show ‘Overcompensating’ in 2018 and eventually toured the show the following year.He is best known for his BennyDrama on his social media his handle, I post humorous videos and impressions. To date, on various social his accounts he has over 3 million followers. He has previously appeared on screen, collaborating with Charli XCX Music in his video “New Shapes.”
As an actor, he recently starred in the Peacock reboot “Queer as Folk,” and has also appeared in shows like Showtime’s “Ziwe” and the Hulu reality series “The Kardashians.”
