(NEXSTAR) — What’s Your Data Worth? Soon you’ll be able to get $24 a year from Amazon.
As Business Insider first reported, it’s part of the invite-only Amazon Shopper Panel program, which currently offers users $10 per month for 10 photos of purchase receipts from vendors other than Amazon. As part of our “perks” for members, members can earn $2/month by enabling ad verification. This allows Amazon to see which ads are served to your phone.
“Your participation helps brands offer better products and make advertising from Amazon more relevant,” Amazon said in the Shopper Panel FAQ.
Amazon says members can also choose to stop ad verification later. A user whose cumulative time in the month exceeds her 48 hours and disables Ad Verification is not eligible to receive that month’s benefits.
The Amazon Shopper Panel is currently available for US and UK users only.
Nexstar has reached out to Amazon for comment on how and how users were selected for the Shopper Panel program, but has yet to hear back. The company declined BI’s request for comment on how users were selected for the program, but a spokeswoman said users wishing to participate will be placed on a waiting list for potential future invitations. I said I could participate.
