Colorado Springs, Colorado (KKTV) – Amazon is addressing concerns, including social media posts, following the death of an employee at its Colorado Springs facility.
Rick Jacobs, 61, died on December 27, according to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. Several people reached out to KKTV 11 News about Jacobs’ death sharing a social media post. There are claims that there were several members.The post read, “I can’t even put into words how upset and angry I am at the disregard for human life by Amazon and the general manager. Are you saying you can’t even close the facility for an extended period of time?” enough to finish [an] Post-mortem investigation? ”
Some claim that the box was used to hide Jacobs’ body from other workers, and that they feel it is inappropriate.
The Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed he died at an Amazon warehouse in Colorado Springs and his death was not work-related. Jacobs said he had a heart attack just minutes before. Several people were around him at the time and there was a 911 call and a notification to management, so at least one of him initiated first aid. A spokesperson denied that the box was used to hide Jacobs’ body.
Those who were with Jacobs at the time of the incident were provided with resources, including time off.
The warehouse is located southeast of Powers Boulevard and Milton E Proby Parkway on the southeast side of Colorado Springs.
