Sykesville, Md. (WBAL) – A Maryland family says they are shocked after seeing an Amazon delivery driver pick up a package delivered by another carrier from their doorstep .
Tommy Thorne ordered a Christmas present for his daughter online. UPS and Amazon delivered the package last Tuesday, but her mother noticed some items were missing, she says. She turned to the surveillance video of her home.
“So I scrolled through the camera again to see the Amazon guy take them,” said Tommy Thorne.
In the video, a female Amazon driver is shown leaving a package at the Soanes’ door and moving other packages that UPS has already delivered. She then picks up those packages and leaves the house.
Tommy Thorne’s daughter, Gabriel Thorne, decided to drive around the neighborhood about an hour and a half after the incident to see if she could find the porch pirates. She found her Amazon van with the woman seen in the video nearby.
“This is insane. I didn’t expect to actually find her. It was shocking,” said Gabriel Thorne.
After calling the police, Mr. and Mrs. Soanes decided to approach the delivery driver.
“I confronted her. She tried to tell me she thought it was a return, but I knew it wasn’t. I threw it open,” said Tommy Thorne.
Police eventually showed up and Mr. and Mrs. Soanes were told that the delivery driver had been charged and the van had been seized.

“Be careful. And watch the delivery, watch the mail,” said Tommy Thorn.
The Thornes said Amazon executives were very responsive to their complaints. The company told WBAL it is investigating the incident and will cooperate with authorities as they continue their investigation.
