Roger Sexton, a former U.S. Marine who competed Survivor: Amazon He died in 2003 after battling dementia with Lewy bodies. he was 76 years old.
Surrounded by his family, Sexton died on October 26 at his daughter and son-in-law’s home in Walla Walla, Washington.
Sexton was cast in the sixth season survivor — the first season dividing the tribes into male and female. At 56 at the time, he was the game’s oldest contestant. His abrupt demeanor rubbed some of the young contestants the wrong way, but he held out for 21 days and was voted out after the tribes merged.
In an online obituary, his family acknowledged his short temper, but also spoke of his strong work ethic and drive.
“Confidence, discipline, and determination to succeed were all integral to Roger’s character, and it helped him appear on Survivor,” his family wrote. Other, more challenging aspects of the character eventually prevailed, ultimately leading to his death, but provided a lasting memory of the aggravating power that was Roger.”
Apart from his stint survivorSexton served in the United States Marine Corps for several years, including a tour in Vietnam in 1966-1967.
After returning from the war, Sexton married his wife Diane and began working in construction management for the majority of his career.

Sexton had two daughters, Heather and Amy. In 1992, Heather died of viral pneumonia when she was only 16 years old. Amy is now married and has two children. According to online obituaries, Sexton was the grandfather of his grandchildren Drew and Hadley.
A celebration of his life will be held next spring.
