2 arrested in Bronx stray-bullet shooting that killed 61-year-old woman


NEW YORK – The police announced on Friday that they had arrested two men who are accused of killing with stray bullets. 61-year-old Juana Esperanza Soriano De-Perdomo on Monday in the Bronx.

Donald Johnson, 20, and Rakell Hampton, 33, have been charged with murder, NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell said.

“They’re both Bronx residents. They both have a long criminal history,” Sewell said. “As I said at the crime scene, this is another example of senseless violence on the streets of our city.

Soriano De-Perdomo was shot in the back on Monday night when two groups opened fire on each other down a block on 188th Street near the Grand Concourse.

Sorian De-Perdom died less than a week later 12-year-old Kade Lewin was fatally shot by a stray bullet in Brooklynand just a few days before that, the three-year-old was hit in the shoulder as he was leaving kindergarten but survived.
